SHELLEY’S THERAPIES

A Natural Way to Heal

We demand a lot of our bodies at work but truthfully even our fun activities can cause muscle pain. One of the best things you can do for your body is to get regular massages.

SPORT MASSAGE

Contrary to the name, sports massage isn't just for professional sports people or the very active, it can benefit anyone who exercises even if it's only regular walking. It focuses on any areas of muscular tension you have using specific techniques to loosen tight muscles, lengthen short muscles, realign muscle and fascia, clear energy pathways, relieve pain, improve posture and aid relaxation.

DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE

An intense deep tissue treatment is not always the most relaxing treatment in the world but the overall improvement of flexibility at the end makes it all worth it!

Deep tissue massages are used to break up scar tissue and break down muscle adhesions (the "knots" that we feel in our muscles are muscle adhesions, which are bands of rigid and painful muscle tissue). These knots can inhibit our circulation and cause pain and inflammation.

PREGNANCY MASSAGE

Massage therapy is a natural modality for improving the function of the body, reducing pain, and lowering stress. Prenatal massage is a type of massage therapy that is specifically for pregnant women.

A prenatal massage primarily makes use of the gentle Swedish massage techniques, which provide muscle relaxation to the entire body.

Swedish massage can help improve a person's general body tone, increase blood flow and lymph circulation, improve the function of the joints and muscles, and alleviate physical and mental fatigue

MANUAL LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE

Manual lymphatic drainage relieves swelling that happens when medical treatment or illness blocks your lymphatic system. Lymphatic drainage massage involves gently manipulating specific areas of your body to help lymph move to an area with working lymph vessels.

Lymph drainage massage (LDM) is gaining popularity due to its potential health benefits such as reduced swelling, inflammation and discomfort associated with lymphedema. This treatment method focuses on the lymphatic system, which is an important part of the immune system that helps the body fight disease by producing and transporting white blood cells required for immune response.

MYOFASCIAL CUPPING THERAPY

Myofascial cupping is a soft tissue therapy that encourages healing by creating a negative pressure or suction on the skin using plastic, glass or silicone cups. These cups pull underlying tissues, blood and other fluids to the surface of the skin. During the treatment, small cups will be placed along the skin creating a vacuum effect that lifts up the underlying fascia (connective tissue), muscles and blood close to the skin’s surface. This technique helps relieve tension in the fascia and increases blood flow to strained or damaged areas.
